An active V1 LIFE subscription or trial is required to start your own SOS or Safe Check. Your trusted recipients do not need a subscription. People using V1 LIFE can receive your alert through an accepted app connection with notifications enabled. External recipients do not need the app or an account. A saved phone number receives safety SMS only after that person texts JOIN with their invitation code and confirms consent; a saved email address can receive an email with a secure alert link when email delivery is available.
Before you need help
- For an app recipient, sign in with Apple on both devices in Contacts → Connect with V1 LIFE users. Pair using a temporary connection code and accept the request on the other device. The recipient does not need a paid subscription.
- For a person without V1 LIFE, add their phone number or email address as a trusted contact. For SMS, share the invitation yourself using the app's Share Invitation or Copy action. Ask the person to text JOIN followed by the invitation code to the displayed V1 LIFE number. The app marks SMS as Confirmed only after the recipient responds. They can text STOP to opt out or HELP for support.
- Allow notifications and location access in iOS Settings. In the app, confirm that a trusted recipient is available.
- Use More → Test Alert to check the alert path.
If an alert does not work
- Check the sender's internet connection and, for an app recipient, the recipient's connection.
- Check V1 LIFE's notification and location permissions in iOS Settings.
- For an app recipient, confirm that the connection is accepted and their notifications are available. For an external recipient, check the phone number or email address and channel status.
- Reopen the app and try a Test Alert. A Test Alert or provider acceptance does not guarantee the person saw the notification.
- If the app says Not Ready or Alert delivery unavailable, use another way to reach help.
Location and maps
Location updates are available during an active alert or Safe Check when iOS provides a fix. An app recipient may see the latest available position, its timestamp and a movement route. The secure web link for an external recipient shows the latest received position, timestamp and alert timeline; it refreshes while the alert is active. Accuracy varies. The recipient can open the position in Apple Maps or Google Maps.
Delete your account
Open V1 LIFE → Settings → Account → Delete Account and complete Sign in with Apple confirmation. If you cannot access the app, contact support@v1life.app. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes and how backups are handled.
